literary Analysis of an author’s work, English homework help

Decide on a topic for your Research Paper.

Your research paper will be a critical literary analysis of an author’s work(s) from either a story, poem, play, essay, or novel. You can also research the author’s purpose, but PLEASE DO NOT WRITE SIMPLY A BIOGRAPHY OF AN AUTHOR – AUTOMATIC ZERO! If you have read a story or stories by an author, then you may want to study the author’s plot/patterns in his/her works. For example, if you believe that Kate Chopin was a feminist writer who used her stories as a platform to show the struggle of women, then your paper would examine feminism in three or more of her works. You may use your textbook as a source, if you choose to use excerpts from it. Always use/refer to the ATC library, your local library, or the Internet for more research information. Criticisms of the works may also be analyzed. The paper should be written in 3rd person and should follow the guidelines below:

  • 3-4 pages in length (not including a Works Cited page)
  • Double-spaced
  • At least 2 references on your Works Cited page, listed alphabetically by author’s last name, and with each listed reference being properly cited within the paper, creating in-text citations.
  • No Wikipedia or any Wiki-related websites used as sources
  • Use Galileo or Credo (see Blackboard for usernames/passwords)
