As you begin to read the novel, students should spend time reviewing the following article in Entertainment Weekly, December 22, 2016 entitled “See the First Photos of Oprah Winfrey in HBO’s Henrietta Lacks’ Movie”by Tina Jordan. Now that you have read the prologue and the following two chapters of the novel, how do you suppose that the novel will or does connect readers to the “intimate” in the story of Henrietta Lacks? Do you believe there will be any bias or misinformation in the novel? Do you trust Rebecca Skloot the author to tell Lacks’ story without embellishment and bias? Does the author establish credibility in the first three chapters of the novel?
