Part 2: The case study below is an example of data from the results of a CCAT test. CCAT measures cognitive aptitude and provides an indication of the employee’s ability to solve problems, grasp and apply information, learn new skills, and think critically.
Based on the information from this assessment, describe the possible outcomes for employee placement, career path, and training needs.
Case Study: Jane (EXAMPLE)
Jane is applying for an administrative assistant position with the marketing department. Her duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, filing, and faxing. Extensive software skills are required, as well as Internet research abilities and strong communication skills. Additional duties include assisting with trade show and event planning, creating or updating presentation software files, tracking budgets and expenses, and communicating with external creative service providers.
Jane’s score on the CCAT was 29 corresponding to a percentile rank of 58. This means that she scored better than 58% of the people who have taken this test.

Spatial Reasoning: 85%
Ability to visualize, make spatial judgments, and problem solve; correlated to general intelligence.
Verbal Ability: 40%
Reasoning and comprehension of words, constructive thinking, and attention to detail.
Math and Logic: 26%
Ability to reason using numbers and numerical concepts. Also measures logic and analytical thinking.
